Monolith is a bronze casting based off a photograph taken when living in Vietnam of a concreate construction site. The simple unfinished, eerie concreate structure of the photo lead to the idea of a casted object appearing monolithic and unknown whilst simultaneously intriguing and sculptural.
When taking a step back the tiered front faces faces align to recreate the image however on an angle they protrude out towards you. The sides play with the same concept of levels with the right side paying homage to the empty window frames that litter the side of the original structure.

Made using a 3D printed sculpture which was then used in a cast in place of wax. the texture of the print adds a textural element to the piece and a contrast is created with the creation of soft faces with sand paper and polish. The gritty visual of the monolith was created with a patina to appear old and weathered.
