My name is James, I am an Industrial Designer who studied a Bachelor of Design at Monash University Caulfield.
Although my work lies in the realm of furniture and product design. I also find myself straying into different forms of art and creation such as Jewellery, Sculpture and painting.
Although my medium may change between projects my ethos remains the same - I have always enjoyed working with my hands and in doing so learning from the mistakes I make in my production processes.
I enjoy flaw and see it more as character than a mistake.
Material is of major importance. No piece of timber is the same, no sheet of metal will have the same finish quality.
The marks of the hand, scratches from wear and tear, blemishes of the timber and imperfections of material are celebrations of character and show the story of a product. That is what I love, that is why I design.
